Raven Update!!!!

Oops forgot another day. Well anyway it's been raining a lot today so Raven has spent most of today inside sleeping, as usual. She sleeps to much. Oh well, what can I do? Answer : nothing.

I forgot to post a Raven update yesterday! Well here's yesterday's.

Today (yesterday I'm just doing it like it was yesterday) Raven has once again been sleepy. She has spent some time outside playing though. Well anyway she's been a good dog.

Labrador Color

Labrador Retrievers come in three main colors, black, yellow, and chocolate. Those three colors can come in many different shades. Yellow can be so much lighter that some people believe that white is one of the Labrador's colors. White is not a color of the Lab. People also think that there is a silver Labrador. This is  false, it is just another shade of one of the three main colors.

Raven update!!!!

Today Raven has been very sleepy. She's probably slept over half the day so far. I think that's a lot for her. Other than that she's been normal ( for Raven normal is very sweet).

The Top Breed

The dog breed that is number one out of all of the dog breeds is the Labrador Retriever. The Labrador is also know for being the best family dog. That's why I chose (and recommend) the Lab. Labradors have been the most popular breed for 27 years and have many uses such as hunting, being a guide dog, being a family pet (my favorite), and many more. Labradors also love to swim even in cold icy water,and they shed a lot (Mine sheds so much that the house needs a nice good long sweeping a day). Second place goes to the Golden Retriever also a good family dog. So if you are considering buying a dog I highly recommend one of the retrievers (Labrador or Golden). Even though I prefer Labs you may want something else, maybe something less active. Labs require lots of play and walks, a minimum of an hour and a half a day (WOW)! That's why my Lab spends a lot of time outside during the day.

Raven update!!!!

Today Raven has been a good dog and so far has been outside most of the day. She isn't an outside dog though. She sleeps inside, comes in when it rains, and stays in and sleeps for about 4-8 hours a day.(I mean day not night). I'm not sure if I said this before but Raven is very small for a Labrador. I think she weighs about 45 pounds, the normal weight for a Lab is 60-90 pounds. I love my L L ( little Lab )

                 

Trick Time

Every once in awhile I'll post how to teach a trick. Today's trick will be the the easy sit trick. If your dog loves treats(like most of them do) this will be easy to teach.

Step 1 Place a dog treat in your hand and show your dog that you are holding a treat.

Step 2  Turn you hand sideways with your palm facing up and balance the treat. Then move your hand upward. Most dogs will sit like mine did. 

Step 3 If you dog sat tell him/her good sit and give it the treat.

Note that this will take about 3 days to a week and a half (not sure).

Having trouble?

If your dog will not listen then try one of these methods

Hold the treat in your hand facing down and move it up. Then after a few days use the regular method.

If your dog still won't listen try use something other than a treat like a small rawhide or a piece of meat.

Remember to!

When you're finished training for the day or right then make sure you end off on a high note so you dog will be eager to do it again the next time. 

You'll have to go over the commands frequently so he/she will not forget.

Raven's Favorite Games

Raven mainly likes three games and I'll list them all on order from favorite to least.

1st  fetch
2nd  chase
3rd tug of war

Or sometimes Raven likes to play all three. First I throw a toy for her to fetch then when she comes back to give it to me I chase her around the living room. After I grab the toy we both pull on it till she lets go.

I don't have much to say about Raven today because she's been outside mostly. Also Raven has wanted lots of love today.

Raven update

Raven has been itchy ad stinky today  :( So I'm taking her to the vet to get a shot that will make her stop itching for a month or more. (I've had to do this before)

Raven update!!!!!

Today Raven has been a lazy Lab. She's been sleeping a lot. Bad news too she been so itchy lately she starting to lose hair! OH NO!( This actually happens often  :(    )
